Robotics
Meet the BirchBots!
FRC Team 5421, more commonly known as the BirchBots, is BWL's very own high school robotics team. BirchBots is a FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) team which competes annually in regional and national competitions against other schools around the world. Currently we are the only co-ed private school in New York City with an FRC team, and we are very proud of the work our BirchBots produce every year!
This team is only open to Upper School students, but caters workshops in the Lower and Middle School divisions to get students involved in STEM fields. Robotics is a great way for BWL students to learn engineering and get involved in an extracurricular activity that reaches beyond the classroom.
Learn More
In addition to teaching construction, development, and technology, Team 5421 teaches real-world skills, like teamwork, leadership, management, and more. Most of all, our BirchBots emphasize fun and community, banding together to create a new robot with different objectives every school year in just nine weeks!
Lower & Middle School Robotics
For younger students, BWL also has the BirchBots Jr Robotics team for students in 4th-8th Grades. The team competes in the FIRST Lego League (FLL) Challenge program.
Students learn the necessary skills to not only build complex robots, but also work together as a team to accomplish their common goal. With veteran BirchBots on hand to provide guidance and advice, as well as a dedicated faculty coach, the Lower/Middle School Robotics team provides a unique opportunity for students to explore the world of competitive robotics.
